Der digitale Wandel nimmt auch in der Pflege immer mehr zu. In manchen Bereichen ist die Digitalisierung bereits verbreitete Praxis, in anderen gibt es Nachholbedarf.
Of course, the direct contact from person to person is what counts in care. But new technologies can be a great support for nurses and patients in many areas and make the increasing tasks in everyday life easier.
The nursing care crisis has steadily worsened over the last few years. In Germany today, just under 3.5 million people are in need of care, and this number is expected to rise to 5.1 million by 2050.
However, the number of vacancies in the health care system is also increasing, as is the resulting overload. Extrapolated to full-time positions, there are currently almost 590,000 nursing staff who care for and assist those in need of statutory health insurance. In 2030, around 720,000 people will be needed. By 2050, the demand will rise to a total of almost 1 million nursing staff. (Pflege-Report 2019) This trend increasingly poses considerable challenges for the health care system and especially for nursing care.
Various measures are necessary to mitigate these problems. One opportunity lies in the digitalization of care.
